Dr. Diana L. Williams

Professor

Dr. Williams received her BA in Psychology from Brooklyn College, City University of New York, in 1998. She studied behavioral neuroscience with Dr. Harvey Grill and Dr. Joel Kaplan at University of Pennsylvania, and received her PhD from the Department of Psychology in 2003. As a postdoctoral fellow, she worked with Dr. Michael Schwartz and Dr. Denis Baskin in the Division of Metabolism, Endocrinology, and Nutrition at the University of Washington School of Medicine. Dr. Williams joined the Department of Psychology and Program in Neuroscience at Florida State University as an Assistant Professor in 2008, and was promoted to Full Professor in 2020. She is currently a member of the Society for Neuroscience, Society for the Study of Ingestive Behavior, The Obesity Society, and is a standing member on the Pathophysiology of Obesity and Diabetes study section at NIH.

Lisa Rascoe Anderson

Research Scientist

Lisa received her BS in Biomedical Science from Auburn University in 2009 and worked as a microbiologist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from 2009 - 2013. In 2014, she became a laboratory researcher at FSU's College of Medicine in several neuroscience labs, and she joined the Williams Laboratory in 2018. Lisa's many skills include but are not limited to a variety of molecular biology techniques, immunohistochemistry, transgenic mouse colony management, rodent brain surgery, and rodent behavior analysis.

Isabel Coiduras

Graduate Student

Isabel joined the Williams Lab in the summer of 2018 as an undergraduate Directed Independent Study student, and became a laboratory technician in Fall of 2019. She received her BS in Biochemistry from FSU in May 2020, and entered the FSU Program in Neuroscience as a graduate student to continue her research in our lab in Fall 2021. Isabel's many skills include rat and mouse behavioral analysis, rodent brain and gastrointestinal surgery, and immunohistochemistry.

Patience Moseley

Graduate Student

Patience received their BS in Biology from the University of West Alabama. In 2019, Patience received a Master’s in Biology from the University of West Florida where they studied retinal development in the marine Pinfish. Following their Master’s, Patience worked as a Microbiology/Virology Lab Tech at the Environmental Protection Agency in Gulf Breeze, FL. They joined the FSU Program in Neuroscience as a doctoral student in Fall of 2020 and joined the Williams lab in Fall 2022. Some of Patience’s skills include many microbiology and molecular biology techniques, immunohistochemistry, and bioinformatics analysis of sequencing data.

Laboratory Alumni

The following are some of our alumni who have gone on to training and careers in academia or medicine:

  • Emily Canner was a DIS student in our lab and then a technician from 2022 - 2023, and is now a graduate student in biomedical sciences at University of Melbourne, Australia.
  • Rafael Guzman-Arevalo was a DIS student in our lab in 2021, and is now a medical student at Louisiana State University.
  • Amanda Rodriguez was a DIS student in our lab from 2018 - 2020, and is now a medical student at Wayne State University.
  • Maria Velasquez did her undergraduate honors thesis in our lab in 2020, and is now a medical student at Icesi University, Colombia. 
  • Dr. Calyn Maske completed her PhD in our lab in 2020, and is now a clinical medical writer.
  • Dr. Sarah Terrill completed her PhD in our lab in 2019, and is now an Assistant Professor at Carthage College.
  • Dr. Greg Loney, who was a postdoc in the lab from 2014 - 2015, is now an Assistant Professor at University at Buffalo, SUNY.
  • Nelson Medina was an undergraduate research assistant through 2016, and is now a PhD student in neuroscience at University of Chicago.
  • Hayden Greene was an undergraduate DIS student and technician with us from 2014 - 2015, received her MD from FSU, and and is now a resident in surgery at University at Buffalo.
  • Dr. Ryan Diaz did his undergraduate honors thesis in our lab in 2014, received his MD from FSU, and specializes in neurological surgery.
  • Kristen Kay was an undergraduate research assistant and then a laboratory technician from 2009 to 2013, and is now pursuing her PhD at the Cleveland Clinic.
  • Dr. Timothy Gooldy did his undergraduate honors thesis in our lab in 2013, received his MD from University of Florida, and specializes in neurological surgery.
  • Dr. Kiersten Mullis did her undergraduate honors thesis in our lab in 2013, received her DO from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine, and now practices family medicine.
  • Dr. Amanda Dossat received her MA for work done in our lab in 2012, later received her PhD from the FSU Program in Neuroscience, and is now in the biotech industry.
  • Dr. Eric Parise received his MA for work done in our lab in 2011, later received his PhD from the FSU Program in Neuroscience and is now a postdoc at Ichan School of Medicine.
